With over one hundred years of experience, Marelli Ventilazione is today, as in the past, one of the most prestigious firms in the industrial sector, offering a full range of low , medium and high pressure centrifugal fans as well as a range of axial fans and Heavy Duty.
FOUNDATION
Ercole Marelli is an Italian engineering and metalworking company, founded in 1891 by the homonym businessman. When it was just born the company used to produce electro mechanic devices, five years later also the air agitators, today’s fans.
PRODUCTION IS EXPANDING
In December 1905 it opened a new factory in Sesto S Giovanni (MI) producing small electric motors, centrifugal electro-pumps, fans and transformers.
Between 1906 and 1911, the number of the employees increased from 500 to 1500.
The Ercole Marelli becomes a joint-stock limited company.
The company is inherited by Fermo Marelli, Ercole Marelli’s son.
In the 30’s it was strongly enhanced the production of heavy machinery such as generators and transformers, command systems for rolling mills for the main producers of steel in the world, propulsion machinery for ships and equipment for trains, electric pumps for water supply and drainage works, small fans, medium and large. Before the Second World War, employees were over 5000 people.
During the 60’s the Ercole Marelli exports high-power locomotives for the railways of Chile and diesel – electric locomotives for the railways of Argentina reaching the top of the employment with 7100 employees. The accomplishments of the company are present in many works for the mass transport such as traction drives for the Milan metro and later it becomes the first Italian company to offer the power drives for chopper locomotive.
Starting from 1968, following a renovation which was necessary to face the falling prices in the electromechanical field, “Ercole Marelli” was placed in liquidation and in March 1981 by Marelli Ventilazione S.r.l.
Important projects in the “Heavy Duty” industry led Marelli Ventilazione to the expansion of the product range and to the enlargement with new offices in the faraway continent of India.
Concomitantly with the anniversary of the 125 years passed since the foundation of the company, the Tosetti brothers, Christian and Moira, convinced of the potential that the company and the staff have, they decide to invest in technology and human resources, making a fundamental change in the corporate structure by acquiring 100% of the shares.
As a follow up to the continuous Company’s growth and to strengthen its global presence, Tosetti brothers, Christian and Moira become part of the European behemoth SODECA GROUP, leading Marelli Ventilazione to be in a prestigious position in the field of industrial ventilation.
